SOUR CREAM COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. flour
1/2 c. sour cream

Cream shortening and sugar. Add vanilla and eggs; blend until smooth. Sift together dry ingredients 3 times, then add with sour cream. Chill 1 hour. Shape dough into long roll. Wrap in waxed paper or foil. Chill 6 to 8 hours. Slice thin. Bake on greased sheet at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen. (Rolls of dough may be frozen and slice off and baked when desired.)
