FROSTED PEAR BARS 
2 fresh pears (Bartlett are good)
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts (chopped)

Core and finely chop pears. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and mix well. Combine flour, soda, spices and add to creamed mixture. Stir in pears, raisins and nuts (mixture is thick like cookie dough).

Turn into greased floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes (top and sides turn deep brown). Cool and frost with cream cheese frosting if desired (3 ounces cream cheese, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 2 cups confectioners' sugar; mix well).
