SWEET AND SAVORY MEATBALLS 
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. bread crumbs, fine dry
1/4 c. onion, finely chopped
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 sm. clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. shortening
1 can Campbell's golden mushroom soup
1/2 c. canned tomatoes, chopped and drained
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. soy sauce
Dash pepper

Mix beef, bread crumbs, onion, egg and garlic; shape into 16 balls. In skillet, brown meatballs in shortening; pare off fat. Add remaining ingredients, except rice. Cover; cook over low heat 20 minutes or until done. Stir now and then. In the meantime, cook rice. Serve meatballs over rice.
