BISCUITS AT THE BEST 
5 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. plus 2 tsp. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. sugar
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. water

Let the mixture stand until it foams to the top ingredients. Next add 2 cups of buttermilk or 1 3/4 cup of whole milk that has been combined with 1/4 cup vinegar and allowed to sit for 4 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees.
