BRER RABBIT MOLASSES SUGAR
COOKIES
 
1 1/2 cups shortening (Crisco)
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup molasses (Brer Rabbit)
2 eggs
4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
additional sugar, for rolling

Melt shortening in a 3 to 4-quart saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool. Add sugar, molasses and eggs. Beat well. Sift together flour, baking soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Add to first mixture. Mix well; chill dough in refrigerator.

Form into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheets 2-inches apart. Bake at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes.
