GINGERSNAP COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves

Cream sugar, shortening, egg and molasses well until light and fluffy. Mix in dry ingredients well. Roll in balls size of walnut and then in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees until light golden brown. May decorate with candy corn and raisins for Halloween.
