CREAM CHEESE COOKIES 
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1 c. sifted enriched flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. wheat flakes, coarsely crushed

Cream together cheese, butter and sugar; add almond extract. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Chill dough about 1 hour.

Shape dough into small balls; roll in crushed flakes. Place 1 1/2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet and top each with candied cherry slices. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 12-15 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on rack. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
