CREAM CHEESE COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Candied cherries or pecan halves or favorite jelly or jam

Cream butter and cream cheese; slowly add sugar, beating until fluffy. Beat in egg yolk. Add flour and vanilla; mix well. Chill dough at least an hour. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; place on greased cookie sheets. Gently press a cherry or pecan half into each cookie. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield: about 7 dozen.
