CALICO BEANS | |
8 sliced thick bacon 1/2 c. onion, chopped 1/2 c. celery, chopped 1/2 c. ketchup 1 c. brown sugar 3 tbsp. white sugar 1 tsp. dry mustard 1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans, drained 1 (16 oz.) can butter beans, drained 1 (16 oz.) can lima beans, drained 1 (16 oz.) can pork & beans, undrained Brown the bacon and set aside. Saute the onion and celery in the bacon grease. In a casserole dish, mix the ketchup, brown and white sugars and mustard with a trace of bacon/onion grease. Add the onions, celery and beans. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour, or until done. You can also prepare this recipe in a crock pot; cook on low 4-5 hours. Good for a potluck or picnic. |
