CANDIED YAMS 
1 c. yams
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1 can chunk pineapple, drained or two sliced raw apples

Drain yams, reserve juice. Combine juice, brown sugar and butter. Cook until sugar dissolves. Blend cornstarch with water to make paste. Stir into brown sugar mixture. Cook until thick. Layer yams and fruit in dish and pour sauce over all. Bake at 325 degrees for 1/2 hour. Top with marshmallows and brown.
