ORANGE TEA BREAD 
1/4 c. soft shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
3 c. flour, sifted
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1/2 c. fresh orange juice
3/4 c. thinly sliced orange slice candy

Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk and orange juice, beating until well blended. Stir in orange slices. Pour into a well greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 65 minutes. Cool in pan for 5 minutes. Remove to rack and put a vanilla glaze or confectioners' sugar on top. Store overnight before slicing.
