PEANUT BUTTER SQUARES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. peanut butter
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. flour

Cream together all ingredients except flour until fluffy. Blend in flour. Press into ungreased 13"x9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, until light golden brown. Do not overbake. Cool a few minutes. Frost and cut into squares.

PEANUT BUTTER ICING:

2 tbsp. soft butter
2 tbsp. peanut butter
1 c. powdered sugar
1-2 tbsp. milk

Mix together. Put on bars.
