I Love these cookies! It's a good recipe for those who receive W.I.C. because you get milk, peanut butter, and oatmeal every month!

They are the fastest cookies to make. And the best. I sometimes change up the flavoring to maybe walnut flavor. But my favorite change is just adding crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy. We joke and call them poo-poo cookies. Sorry if I grossed anyone out with that.

You do need to bring the liquids to a boil for at least 1 minute. They won't stay together if not. Sort of like when your making homemade candies. The sugar has to "cook down" to be able to stick together.

I just tried it with 1/2 a stick of butter and it turned out great with less calories! Also add wheat germ and flax for a healthier version. I boil for 3 minutes also.

Added more oats until it isn't so gooey. I cut sugar in half, added way more oats, maybe 1-2 more cups, didn't measure, throw in some wheat germ or even flax to make them healthier. My kids like them but then again they've always had reduced sugar, eg- half chocolate half white milk, watered down juice, etc. These were great.

I have also substituted the oatmeal with a bag of trail mix or a bag of dried cherries. Both are great!!

My family has always loved these and they are so forgiving. Went to make them one day and discovered as I was beginning to cook the butter, milk and sugar together that I only had two cups of oats.I found some small amounts of several cereals left in the bottoms of the cereal boxes (my 5 kids and husband were fond of leaving littlt dabs for the next guy). I roughly crushed some flake cereals and added some grape nuts and some rice krispies to make up the extra cup of add-ins and it was a real hit. Unfortunately it is impossible to duplicate.

My Uncle as a child put this recipe in a cook book for Mothers Day in 1959. The name of the recipe was called "Wallies". I am not sure why they were called that. I have had them all my life. My Grandmother made for my Aunts, Uncles, siblings, childern and grandchildern. She use coconut too. Mostly with oatmeal.

Love these no-bake cookies, I have been eating these for
years, mine do better by boiling mixture for 2 minutes.
A quick treat when there are a lot of chocolate lovers in the house...

This is actually more like oatmeal fudge than a cookie -- outstanding nonetheless! I'm experimenting with ingredients to make it more nutritious; my fave add-ins so far are raisins (softened by boiling briefly) and chopped almonds. With raisins, milk, cocoa, oatmeal and nuts, these are actually a reasonably good source of iron.

I'm Diabetic...I use Splenda Blend instead and evap.milk instead. Most Exe.
