1 c. molasses
1/2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
Pinch salt
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/3 c. buttermilk
Enough flour to make a stiff dough

Knead and pinch out. Makes 5 or 6 thin cakes. Bake at 350 degrees. Spread cooked dried apples between layers.
