NEVER FAIL DILL PICKLES 
Put dill and an onion slice in bottom and top of each quart jar. Add cucumbers, then add to each jar:

1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. canning salt
1/2 c. vinegar

Fill each jar with cold water. Put lids and screw bands on each jar and put in canner. Fill with water (cover jars) and boil for 5 minutes. Take out of water. BE SURE TO USE ONLY QUART JARS.
