AUNT ROSE NESTA'S HOLIDAY BREAD | |
1 doz. eggs 1 c. oil 1 c. sugar 3 tbsp. salt 1 cake yeast, dissolved in water 1 pt. boiled milk, cooled 1/2 c. whiskey 1/2 c. mixed dried fruit (cherries, pineapple, raisins, etc.) Enough sifted flour to make dough pliable Mix all ingredients and let rise about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. For each loaf, cut 5 strips the thickness of 2 fingers and braid. Put braided loaf into a long bread pan or onto a cookie sheet. Let raise again until double in size and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. |
