OVERNIGHT SWEET ROLLS | |
4 c. water 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 lb. butter 1 pkg. yeast 1/4 c. warm water 5 eggs, well beaten 1 tbsp. salt 15 c. flour (approx.) Bring water and sugar to a boil and continue boiling for 5 minutes. Add butter. Let cool. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Add beaten eggs and yeast to water and sugar mixture. Add salt and flour to make a soft dough, kneading until smooth. Let rise 4 to 5 hours, kneading down every hour. Shape into coffee cakes or caramel rolls. Let rise overnight. Bake in morning at 350 degrees (coffee cakes 20 minutes; caramel rolls - 25 minutes). Yield: 6 coffee cakes and two 9 x 13 inch pans or caramel rolls. |
