LEBKUCHEN 
A satisfying, sweeter cookie with a strange delectable blend of flavors.

3 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 c. honey
2 tbsp. brandy
1 1/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. cut almonds
1/2 c. chopped citron
3 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. cloves
1 tbsp. baking soda
Enough flour to make a stiff dough

Put molasses, honey and sugar in a kettle and boil 5 minutes. While still hot, add shortening, 4 cups flour, spices and nuts. When nearly cold, add soda dissolved in 1 cup of boiling water. Add well beaten eggs and flour to make a stiff dough. Let stand 3 to 4 days. Roll and cut. Bake in moderate oven. Frost with powdered sugar frosting.
