CHERRY - COCONUT BARS 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour, divided
3 tbsp. sifted powdered sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. drained and chopped maraschino cherries
3/4 c. chopped pecans

Cream butter in medium bowl. Gradually add 1 cup flour and powdered sugar, beating well. Press evenly into a lightly greased 8 inch square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees 20 minutes or until it is lightly brown.

Beat eggs in a medium bowl until foamy. Add 3/4 cup sugar, the remaining four, baking powder, salt, vanilla, coconut, cherries, and pecans. Mix well. Spread evenly over baked pastry. Bake at 350 degrees 20 minutes. Let cool completely in pan. Cut into bars.
