AUNTY'S GOOD BREAD 
1 pkg. yeast (& sprinkle of sugar)
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 1/2 c. water
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening (Crisco)
2 tsp. salt
2 lg. eggs, beaten
7 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water and let bubble and soften. In 2 quart pan, combine water, sugar, shortening and salt and heat on stove until shortening is melted. Cool until lukewarm.

Then, add beaten eggs, softened yeast and 3 of the cups of flour. B eat vigorously to make a soft dough. Then, by hand, beat 3 more of the cups of flour into dough. Turn out onto a floured bread board and knead into the dough the last cup (1) of flour. KNEAD FOR 15 MINUTES.

Place dough in large greased mixing bowl, cover and let rise to top of bowl. Then, punch down and divide into 2 portions. Lay 1 portion of dough flat on a floured surface, pat down all air holes, and shape into a rectangle the width of the loaf pan. Roll like a jelly roll, turn ends under, and place (seam side down) into greased bread (loaf) pan. Repeat for other portion. Cover, let dough loaves rise. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes (golden brown). Turn loaves onto rack and brush tops with butter.
