OATMEAL BREAD 
2 c. boiling water
1 c. rolled oats
2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. dark molasses
2 tsp. salt
1 env. dry yeast
5-6 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. lukewarm water

Pour boiling water over oats, add shortening, cool. Add molasses and salt. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water and add to oatmeal mix, add flour gradually. Turn on to board and knead until smooth looking. Turn into greased bowl, cover, let rise until double in bulk, about 1 hour. Shape into 2 loaves, place in greased bread pans, let rise until double, covered. Bake at 350 degrees about 50 minutes.
