OATMEAL BREAD OR BUNS 
4 c. boiling water
2 c. rolled quick oatmeal
4 tbsp. shortening
1 c. dark molasses
4 tsp. salt
2 pkg. yeast
1 c. water, lukewarm
10-12 c. flour

Pour boiling water over oats, shortening, salt and molasses. dissolve yeast in water (may add 1/2 cup sugar if you like a sweeter dough). Add to the cooled oats mixture. Add flour gradually. Turn out on floured counter top and knead until smooth, adding flour as necessary. Let rise until double in greased bowl.

Form into 4 loaves of bread or buns in greased pans. Let rise again until double. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes for bread; 15-20 minutes for buns. Remove from oven and grease tops while hot.
