HOMEMADE OATMEAL BREAD | |
1/4 c. molasses 1/4 c. brown sugar 1 1/2 c. boiling water 1 c. raw oatmeal 2 tbsp. butter, lowfat spread 1 tsp. salt 1 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water 4 c. flour Mix molasses and brown sugar in 1 bowl, add yeast in water, 1 cup flour and let sit. Mix salt, butter, oats and boiling water in another bowl, let cool. Mix both together and add flour, 1 cup at a time, stirring, then kneading. Add extra flour if necessary and knead until fully mixed. Put in warm place, cover, let rise for 1 1/2 hours. Remove, knead again, divide into 2 loaves. Let rise 1 hour and bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Don't over cook. |
