SWEET PUDDING SAUCE 
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
Corn starch
Flavoring

Beat until creamy the butter and sugar. Set aside. Add a little corn starch (1/2 tablespoon or so) to 3/4 cup boiling water to thicken. Allow to come to a boil. At this point, add flavoring, either vanilla, nutmeg or lemon.

I like vanilla and a little nutmeg (or lemon if you like). Remove from heat and quickly stir in butter and sugar mixture.

Makes a good sauce for apple dumplings or bread pudding.
