JAN HAGEL 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. soft butter
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1 slightly beaten egg white
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream together brown sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla. Stir together flour and salt; blend into creamed mixture; mix well. Pat dough evenly in ungreased 15x10x1 baking pan. Brush top of dough with beaten egg white.

Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts or almonds. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until light brown. Cut while warm into 2 inch squares.
