JAM CAKE 
4 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. blackberry preserves
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. water
Melon rind preserves

Cream eggs and sugar. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Add butter, preserves, flour, spices and buttermilk to creamed mixture. Mix well. Bake in 9x13 inch pan at 325 degrees for 25 minutes or until done.

ICING:

1 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup heavy cream. Combine ingredients and cook until softball stage.
