QUICK YEAST DOUGH | |
2 tbsp. sugar 1 c. lukewarm water less 2 tbsp. 1 lg. cake yeast 4 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. salt 1/2 lb. butter 2 egg yolks Dissolve sugar in warm water and crumble in yeast. Let stand until foamy. Put butter in flour as for pie crust. Add yeast mixture and egg yolks. Mix dough with hands until it leaves sides of bow, about 5 minutes. Shape into a ball. Cut in 4 pieces and let it rise, about 45 minutes, in a lukewarm place. Roll out on lightly floured board one piece at a time and spread with nuts or poppy seed filling and roll as for jelly roll. Place on greased pan. Brush with butter if you want. Bake at 400 degrees for 35 minutes. |
