OLD FASHIONED GINGERBREAD 
1/2 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. hot water
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. ginger
1 c. Brer Rabbit Molasses

Cream shortening; add sugar, beaten egg and molasses. Mix thoroughly. Pour hot water over mixture and beat again. Lastly add flour mixed with dry ingredients - salt, soda, ginger and cloves. Pour into square or oblong cake pan and bake about 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
