OLD FASHIONED SOFT GINGERBREAD 
1/2 c. soft butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. unsulfered molasses
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 3/4 tsp. baking soda
2 3/4 c. unbleached all-purpose flour
2 tsp. powdered ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. clove
1/2 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and beat well. Combine the molasses, milk and soda. Sift together the flour, spices and salt. Add the two mixture alternately, still beating continuously.

Pour into greased 9x9 inch baking pan. Bake until center bounces when touched. Serve warm with any of the following toppings: Sweet whipped cream (whipped cream cheese mixed with crystallized ginger), marshmallow fluff, or sweet butter.
