OLD FASHIONED GINGERBREAD | |
1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. butter and lard mixed 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. molasses 1/2 c. honey 1 c. hot coffee 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 egg 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ginger 2 1/2 c. flour Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten egg, molasses and honey. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to molasses mixture. Add coffee last and beat until smooth. Make in a greased 9x13 inch dripping pan at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. (May substitute butter for butter and lard.) This recipe comes from Great-great-grandma Jeremy who was Penn-Dutch. It is best served with real whipped cream. |
