OLD FASHIONED DUMPLINGS 
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening, scant
1 egg, beaten
Milk

Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Work in shortening, egg and enough milk to make a dough that is too sticky to roll out, but just right to drop by spoonfuls into a stewpot or meat pie. After dropping all the dough into the dish you are prepared, cover pot and do not raise lid for 20 minutes. Then, open and serve.
