SWEDISH COFFEE CAKE | |
BOTTOM LAYER: 1 c. flour 1/2 c. soft butter 1 1/2 tbsp. water Mix above ingredients with a fork and pat in a ttoring pan (ttoring pan is a round pan with a large hole in the center. It is often used to set a pie on while baking to take care of any drippings if the pie boils over.) TOPPING: 1 c. water 1/2 c. butter 3/4 - 1 c. flour 3 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla Bring water and butter to a boil. Take from stove, add flour, mixing and beating. Add eggs, one at a time, beating vigorously after each add. Add vanilla. I use a potato masher to get it real thick after adding each egg. This is the trick to making it real good. Spread on top of the bottom layer. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Frost with powdered sugar frosting with almond flavoring. Try it. You'll like it. It's very good. |
