SPLIT PEA SOUP (LOW-CAL) 
1 1/2 qts. water
1 can chicken broth
16 oz. lean ham
1 lb. bag split green peas
1 c. celery, diced
1 c. carrots, diced
1 c. onion, diced
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. parsley
1 tsp. basil

Wash and sort peas; set aside. Cut ham into bite size pieces. Bring water and chicken broth to a boil. Add ham, peas, celery, carrots, onions, salt, pepper, parsley and basil. Simmer until peas are tender, approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
