MAMA'S LEMON SAUCE 
Goes well over Gingerbread or drizzled over any cake.

1 cup sugar
2 cups water
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt

Boil until sauce thickens; remove from heat and add:

4 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. lemon rind
3 tbsp. lemon juice
