1/2 tsp. grated onion 1/8 tsp. ground cloves 3/4 tsp. salt 1 (6 oz.) can tomato puree, not concentrated 3 tbsp. water 2 tbsp. vinegar 6 (1/4 grain) saccharin tablets Place water, vinegar, onion and other spices in pan. Let come to a boil and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from stove and add tomato puree, salt, and saccharin tablets. Mix well and store in refrigerator. If a tablespoon of this catsup is used at a meal, the value will be roughly 3 grams cholesterol, 7 grams protein, and 3 grams fat. This value is so low that the catsup may perhaps be used in small amounts without calculating it in the diet. |
