MOZZARELLA BITES | |
1 to 2 lb. block Mozzarella cheese 1/2 c. flour 1 egg 2 tbsp. water 1 box Progresso Italian bread crumbs 2 tsp. garlic salt Fat for deep frying Cut cheese into 1/2 inch cubes. Place 1/2 cup flour in a paper bag and add cheese cubes a few at a time. Shake bag and coat cubes with flour. Mix egg and water together and place in shallow dish. Add floured cubes and turn to cool. Remove cubes from egg wash and toss in Italian bread crumbs that have been mixed with garlic salt. Coat well with crumbs and place on a waxed paper lined cookie sheet. At this point you may freeze the cubes and use at a future time or refrigerate a few hours. Just before serving heat fat in a deep pan to 350 degrees. Drop in a few cubes at a time and cook until golden, about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Drain and keep warm until all are cooked. Serve hot with cocktails. These are so good!! Make more than you think you'll need - they'll be gone in no time. |
