BEST SUGAR COOKIES 
5 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. confectioners sugar
1 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
2 eggs, slightly beaten
3 tsp. vanilla

Sift together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Set aside. Cream butter and sugars. Add oil, eggs, and vanilla. Gradually add dry mixture. Refrigerate for 20 minutes. Roll in small balls, then dip in additional granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, flatten with glass dipped in granulated sugar. Sprinkle with colored sugar if desired. Bake until lightly golden, about 12-15 minutes. Makes 12-14 dozen.
