CHOCOLATE A DROP COOKIES 
2/3 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/3 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg. Blend buttermilk and vanilla together and add to creamed mixture. Sift dry ingredients and add, mixing well. 2 cups cut-up candied cherries may be added if desired. Chill dough for 1 hour.

Drop rounded teaspoons of dough 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. May be frosted if desired.
