HOAGY CAKE 
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 1/4 c. sugar
Grated rind of 2 lemons or 2 oranges
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts

Line the bottom of a 9" square cake pan with wax paper and grease paper. Sift together the flour, leavenings and salt. Cream butter, sugar and grated rind. Stir in flour mixture in several additions, alternately with buttermilk, just until smooth each time. Stir in nuts. Turn into prepared pan. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven until cake tests done, about 45 minutes.
