TEXAS PRUNE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 c flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. buttermilk or sour milk
2/3 c. chopped pitted prunes

Cream shortening and sugar and eggs. Beat well and mix in combined dry ingredients, alternately with buttermilk. Add chopped prunes and mix thoroughly. Bake in 2 (9 inch) round cake pans lined with waxed paper, in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 25 minutes.

TEXAS PRUNE CAKE FROSTING:

2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. prune juice
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. chopped prunes

Cream butter with juices, cinnamon, and salt. Add chopped pecans and prunes. Add sugar last, beating in gradually.
