GOLDEN APPLE CAKE 
1 3/4 c. flour
1 c. old fashion oats, uncooked
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 c. butter, melted
1 tbsp. apple jelly
3 med. golden delicious apples, thinly sliced
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13 x 9 inch baking pan. In medium bowl combine flour, oats and baking powder. Add nuts.

In large bowl combine brown sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla; mix well.

In medium bowl combine granulated sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add apple slices; toss to coat evenly. Add flour mixture to brown sugar mixture; mix just until dry ingredients are moistened.

Pour batter into prepared pan. Arrange apple slices on top of batter overlapping closely in decorative pattern. Bake about 50 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Brush with jelly. Makes 13 x 9 inch cake.
