APPLE DUMPLINGS 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. water
1 heaping c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 apples, diced

Bring sugar, butter, and water to a boil. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk or water to make a batter like drop biscuits. Stir apples into dough. Drop by spoonfuls into boiling syrup. Bake slowly at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour. Baste with syrup once or twice. Should be brown on top when done. Serve with whipped cream or plain cream.
