APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. flour
6 tbsp. lard
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
3 med. apples

Put dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix together with fingers. Crumble lard in flour mixture. Add milk and mix. Roll 1/4 inch thick on floured board. Cut in 6 equal pieces. Peel apples and core. Slice thin 1/2 apple on each piece of rolled out dough. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, dot with butter.

Press dough tightly around apples. Place in greased baking pan. Make a syrup of 1 1/2 cups water and 1 1/2 cups sugar (white or brown). Bring to a boil. Add dash of salt and 1 tablespoon butter. Mix 1 tablespoon flour with 1/2 cup cold water. Add slowly to boiling syrup. Pour over dumplings in pan. Sprinkle complete top with sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Serve with cow's cream.
