ITALIAN CREAM CAKE | |
1 stick butter 1/2 c. Crisco 2 c. sugar 5 egg yolks 5 egg whites 1 tsp. baking soda 2 c. plain flour 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. nuts, chopped 1 c. coconut Cream together butter, Crisco, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla. Sift flour with soda, and add to mixture alternating with buttermilk; adding flour first and last. Fold in beaten egg whites, nuts and coconut. Bake 3 (9-inch) pans at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. ICING: 1 (8 oz.) cream cheese 1 box 4X sugar 1/2 c. Crisco 1 tsp. vanilla If mixture is too thick, may be thinned with a little milk. Spread icing between layers. |
