SCOTCH SHORT BREAD 
2 1/2 sticks softened butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together. Work in 4 cups flour until it forms a ball in bowl. Roll out on board sprinkled with powdered sugar. Cut in shapes, diamonds, squares, etc. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Sift powdered sugar on top as soon as possible.
