FRENCH COFFEE CAKE 
1/2 c. light brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. chocolate chips
1 tsp. cinnamon

CAKE:

2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. pure vanilla

Mix the filling/topping ingredients and set aside. In a bowl, mix the first 4 dry cake ingredients. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar, then add eggs and mix well. Blend in sour cream and vanilla until creamy. Stir dry cake ingredients into wet ingredients. Grease and flour a tube or bundt pan and place half of cake mixture into pan. Sprinkle with half of filling/topping mixture. Pour remaining cake mixture over filling layer and top with remaining filling/topping mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-60 minutes until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes on a rack. Loosen cake from pan and place on a serving dish. Enjoy!

Option: Leave out the chocolate chips and replace with 8 ounces chopped figs or your favorite preserves.
