DUTCH APPLE CAKE 
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. baking powder
4 apples
1/4 c. sugar mixed with 1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix first 5 ingredients. Add salt, baking powder and flour. Pour into greased 13 x 9 pan. Slice apples into 1/4 inch slices. Push thin edges into batter so apples are 3/4 covered. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
