DUTCH APPLE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 lb. butter
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
5 tart apples

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter and lightly flour a 10 x 6 x 2 inch baking dish. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Melt butter, remove from heat, stir in the milk, one egg, beating well. Add to flour mixture and blend. Spread batter into dish. Pare and core 5 tart apples, cut into 8 wedges and press in uniform rows into batter.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. raisins

Mix topping and sprinkle over top. Bake 25 minutes. Serve plain, with ice cream or cream.
