DUTCH APPLE CAKE WITH LEMON SAUCE | |
1 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder (scant) 1 egg 1 tbsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. milk LEMON SAUCE: 1 heaping tsp. butter 1/2 c. sugar Juice of 1 lemon 1 c. hot water 2 tsp. cornstarch (in cold water) 3 or 4 sour apples Mix flour, salt, baking powder -- rub in butter. Add egg and milk. Spread 1/2 inch thick in pan. Pare and core sour apples. Put sharp edge of slices into cake. Sprinkle the top with sugar. Bake in hot oven at 425 degrees for about 25 minutes. |
