SOUPER SUPPER STEW | |
2 tbsp. shortening or oil or bacon drippings 1 env. Lipton onion soup mix 2 med. potatoes, diced 1 1/2 lbs. beef cubes 2 med. carrots, thinly sliced 5 c. water In large skillet, melt shortening and brown beef cubes. Add onion soup mix and water (5 cups); cook uncovered 30 minutes. Add vegetables; cook uncovered 45 minutes or until vegetables are tender. (Add more water if it gets too thick.) Makes 6-8 servings. 1 c. water 2 tsp. chili powder (optional) May be used instead of 5 cups of water. Electric fry pan works beautifully - after browning beef on high, turn temperature to about 275-300 degrees just high enough to keep it bubbling a little. |
